Rinku S. Saini D.D.S., M.S., M.P.H.
Dr. Saini received his bachelor's degree from University of California at Irvine and a master's degree from University of Hawaii, both in Biology. Prior to leaving for dental school Dr. Saini worked as a fifth grade teacher in Southern California. He then attended the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York where he completed a dual degree program and earned both a D.D.S. (Doctorate of Dental Surgery) degree and M.P.H. (Masters of Public Health) degree. Dr. Saini completed a general practice residency at the UCLA affiliated V.A. Medical Center at Sepulveda followed by a hospital based pediatric dentistry residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. He will tell you that it was his experience working as a fifth grade teacher before dental school that helped guide his choice to pursue career in pediatrics dentistry and continue to stay involved in education.
Dr. Saini was a full-time faculty member at both Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York and the University of the Pacific (UOP) School of Dentistry in San Francisco. At UOP he was involved in the pediatric department’s didactic and clinical curriculum. His lecture topics include Oral Health of Children with Special Needs, Dental Management of Pediatric Patients with Complex Medical Conditions, and Management of Pediatric Dental Trauma. He frequently holds seminars on these topics for dentists and physicians in the Bay Area. He is currently teaching in the pediatric residency program at UCSF University of California San Francisco Dental School. He is an active member of the SF Dental Society, the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Saini is also active in the local chapter of the Contra Costa Dental Society where he has served as a board member.
Dr. Saini has been in private practice in Concord and Danville California since 2009. He treatment philosophy is to provide age-appropriate care, without relying on sedation for treatment. He believes that the “one doctor for one family” model provides the best continuity of care and helps builds trust between the family and doctor. Dr. Saini and his wife Pelin live in the Bay Area with their young son, Ari. When he is away from pediatric dentistry, they can be found enjoying the Bay Area’s nature trails, at music concerts, and watching Warriors games with family and friends.
